Manga African Dance, Inc.

Osun

Program Details:
Osun is a traditional Yoruba dance that tells the story of a woman's search for love. Using song, dance and drumming, Manga's performers tell how Osun, the Yoruba goddess of the river and unconditional love and how Osun makes a match between a lonely woman and Sango, the Yoruba god of thunder. Students learn about the talking drum, shekere, gudugudu and cowbell that accompany the Osun dance and how they function as important communication tools in African society.
