Manga African Dance, Inc.Rhythm in Motion: Sunu Program Details: The dancers of Manga African Dance take your students by storm as they dance onto the stage to live music played by Sunu drummers. The group takes students on a trip through time, demonstrating the evolution of the dances and explaining the influence of the cultures of Congo, the Caribbean and finally Charleston, South Carolina. Students participate by clapping along and helping to demonstrate the similarities between Sunu dance and the modern moves of hip hop. The drummers also explain the name and origin of each of their instruments as well as the relation between the rhythm of the drumbeat and the dances.
