Don’t be late! It’s the Mad Hatter!

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

February 17, 2009 – Atlanta, GA – Saturday, May 9, 2009 promises to be a day filled with whimsy and hands-on fun. On that day Young Audiences, Woodruff Arts Center (YAWAC) will present the 2009 Mad Hatter. Families will enjoy light bites, delectable desserts and raffles for fun prizes.

The Mad Hatter will be an event to remember for the more than 300 moms, dads and kids expected to attend. Everyone is encouraged to get into the spirit and wear wild and wonderful hats and brightly colored outfits to join in the fun. The fun includes hands-on arts activities for the kids, door prizes, raffles, and special sneak peek performances by YAWAC artists.

Funds raised for the Mad Hatter will support YAWAC educational arts programs to improve and enrich the lives and learning of children throughout Georgia. High quality arts experiences prepare young people for the complicated, uncertain and interdependent world in which they are growing up. YAWAC actively engages children in the creative process where they learn how to apply imagination and creativity to solve complex problems, how to work harmoniously with others, and how to act with purpose, discipline and resolve.

“We look forward to The Mad Hatter because, first of all, it’s great fun,” said Tony Kimbrell, executive director for YAWAC. “This party allows families to come together and see our commitment to bringing the arts into children’s lives, and experience firsthand how arts experiences are educational.”

Sponsors for The Mad Hatter include The Coca-Cola Company, Ernst & Young, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., Cushman &Wakefield, Synergetic Leadership Solutions and Norfolk Southern Corporation. A portion of each sponsorship allows families in at-risk situations (as defined and chosen by a United Way organization) to attend the Mad Hatter, and also underwrites one YAWAC program in schools. Sponsorship and ticket information can be found by visiting The Mad Hatter , or by calling (404) 733-5337.
