SAVE THE DATE: THE MAD HATTER EVENT RETURNS
Young Audiences Gears Up for the Second Annual Alice in Wonderland-Inspired Fundraiser
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Ring the bells, rattle your hats and mark your calendars -- The Mad Hatter 2010 event is fast approaching! On Saturday, May 8, Young Audiences, Woodruff Arts Center (YAWAC) will open the doors of the Woodruff Arts Center to Georgia families, where they will enjoy a morning of whimsical flair, artist performances, hands-on arts activities and sightings of the Mad Hatter and his friends.
The second annual Mad Hatter event will feature more artist performances than ever- including acts by Young Audiences Artists Eric Litwin (author of the children’s book Pete the Cat) and Tip Tap Two – and even more interactive art activities than last year. Guests will be swept away with wonder as they unleash their creativity, enjoy being entertained and have the chance to win great raffles.
Everyone is encouraged to arrive promptly at 10 a.m. and to join the event’s fun atmosphere by wearing wild and wonderful hats and brightly colored outfits. So unlike Alice in Wonderland’s White Rabbit, don’t be late for this fun-filled morning.
“We are excited to host this enchanted event again this year,” said Tony Kimbrell, Executive Director of Young Audiences, Woodruff Arts Center. “Our organization is committed to reaching Georgia’s children with the life-changing power of the arts, and the Mad Hatter event is an entertaining way to showcase our work to the community while providing families with a delightful morning of amusement and fun.”
Because YAWAC believes everyone’s a kid at heart, a flat “kids” ticket rate will be offered to all -- $12 in advance/$15 at the door. All funds raised through the Mad Hatter event will support YAWAC’s mission of transforming the lives and learning of young people through the arts.
Research shows that consistent access to high-quality, authentic arts experiences helps children develop their creativity, critical-thinking and communication skills while improving their overall academic performance. Since 1983, YAWAC has been committed to bringing those essential arts experiences to students throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
The 2010 Mad Hatter event is sponsored by the following companies and organizations: The Coca-Cola Company, Comcast and Atlanta Parent Magazine. A portion of each sponsorship allows families in at-risk situations (as defined and chosen by a United Way affiliate organization) to attend the Mad Hatter event and also underwrites a free Young Audiences performance in a Title I school.
Sponsorship opportunities for the 2010 Mad Hatter are still available. For more information and to purchase tickets to the Mad Hatter event – visit http://yawac.org/Get-Involved/Events.aspx.
