Echoes of Ireland | Celtic Fire: Irish Music and Dance
There’s no blarney in this program of spritely dance tunes & haunting airs performed by Nella Rigell and John Maschinot on the Celtic harp, uilleann (Irish) bagpipes, wooden flute, tin whistle and bodhran (hand-drum). The history, culture and character of the Emerald Isle are communicated through Gaelic words and phrases, charming songs and exciting percussive footwork performed by champion step-dancer Katie Baughman. Student volunteers join the band on harp and bodhran to bring this celidh (traditional music and dance party) to a high-spirited conclusion.
Celtic Fire: Irish Music and Dance
Celtic harpist Nella Rigell and Irish piper John Maschinot share their love of the music and lore of Ireland with children of all ages. They have been performing as a Young Audiences ensemble for over a decade. Champion Irish step dancer, Anna Johnson, joins the duo by request, performing exciting and percussive traditional dances sure to get toes tapping and hands clapping!
