A classical trumpet recital takes an unexpected turn when two Salsa musicians show up to challenge Jason to integrate his classical music performance with other styles, such as Latin American music. In this high-energy program, students will learn about the importance of converging musical styles and rhythms in a fun, exciting atmosphere that’s sure to leave them entertained and inspired.

Intended Outcome: This program connect students to the essential elements of music curriculum, including dynamics, style and ensemble technique.

State Standard: MESBB.2 - The student will recognize ensemble skills: rehearsal etiquette, dynamic expression, style, blend and balance.


Jason Pellett

Jason Pellett is an avid educator and performer.  He can be heard playing lead trumpet with the best salsa bands in Atlanta and played some of the continent’s greatest venues touring North America for six years with the jazz quintet Adams Township.  He has done studio work for the Cartoon Network and Interscope Records, can be heard on the soundtrack to the blockbuster movie Madea's Family Reunion, and is the former principal trumpet player of the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra.  His teaching varies as much as his performing.  He maintains an active private studio as well as presenting a variety of creative programs in schools ranging from assemblies and workshops to special music classes.
