The Politics of Passion: Women and Men, Love and Desire in Shakespeare  |  Barry Stewart Mann

Jealousy, fury, desire, revenge. Shakespeare certainly understood the terrain of rocky romantic relationships and turned them into great drama. Barry and partner Sheri Mann Stewart explore this landscape in scenes from four provocative plays --- Cymbeline, Measure for Measure, Antony and Cleopatra and Othello --- and engage students in dialogue about the characters’ motivations and tactics, and contemporary parallels to their classic circumstances. These are Shakespeare’s men and women rendered relevant, complex and compelling.
