Emily Yewell Volin earned her MFA in Theatre Arts with a dance emphasis from the University of Arizona.  She also holds a BS in Education from Loyola University Chicago.    Yewell Volin currently resides in the Atlanta area where she is an Instructor in Dance in the  Agnes Scott College Dance Studies Program.  She is also scheduled as a visiting instructor in The Emory University Dance Program during the Fall 2010 semester.  Emily is a faculty member of the renowned USA International Ballet Competition Dance School convening in Jackson, Mississippi,  in June 2010 and is excited to premier her new K-6 dance assembly program The Everyday Life of Dance with Young Audiences Woodruff Arts Center during Fall 2010.  She is a contributing journalist for the internationally distributed Dance Informa publication and an active board member to The D.A.I.R. Project, the Jazz Dance World Congress, and the Young Audiences Woodruff Arts Center Program Committee.

She continues to teach extensively in studios and universities throughout the United States.  In addition to her current position as an Instructor in Dance in the Agnes Scott College Dance Studies Program Emily served 3 years as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.  She has worked in adjunct positions at Brenau University, The University of Georgia and the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School.  Yewell Volin also spent 3 years teaching at Kennesaw State University; one as an Interim Assistant Professor of Dance and two additional years serving as an adjunct in the program.  She was a faculty member at the Giordano Dance Center where she often returns to teach classes and at the Lou Conte Dance Studio (home of Hubbard Street Dance Company); both in Chicago.

Emily performed in Chicago with the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and River North Dance Company. She went on to become a company member of Sam Watson’s,  Wats on Dance!, The University of Arizona Dance Ensemble, and Jazz Dance Theatre South and performed throughout the United States.  Emily was a faculty member for the International Dance Exchange And Scholarship program (IDEAS); a dance exchange program between Nurnberg, Germany and Chicago, IL.   Her choreography has been selected to compete in the Jazz Dance World Congress Leo’s Competitive Event on three occasions and has been featured at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the Gainesville Ballet, the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre, and Kennesaw State University as well as in other venues.  Emily has also choreographed and performed for national trade and industrial shows.
