In this tender autobiographical account, Truman Capote recalls his childhood friendship with his elderly distant cousin, Sooke, and reminisces how they baked fruitcakes together to earn extra money for holiday ornaments and presents. Blending elements of readers and epic theater, the actors speak directly to the audience, giving Truman’s flashbacks the quality of a play within a play.
