Students sing, dance and drum as J’miah fashions storytelling ensembles from his student audience. Based on the “story-dance-musical drama” form of Ghanaian performance storytelling, J’miah’s innovative combination of spoken word oral traditions, music and creative movement make for a rhythmic, exhilarating and authentically African adventure in learning.
J'miah Nabawi
Employing a variety of voices, languages from distant lands, hand-held instruments, colorful fabrics, and creative movement, J'miah Nabawi's interdisciplinary brand of storytelling programming has been invited to appear at concert halls, museums of art, theaters, universities, public and private schools, and educational conferences around the U.S. and abroad.

He was named a Traditional Master Artist by the Georgia Council for the Arts, through its National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) sponsored Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program, to encourage, preserve, and perpetuate the African American oral traditions of the southeast, and has received many more recognitions.
