Students use their own handmade paper to create a handbound book using a variety of traditional and non-traditional bindings. Their finished products will generate lasting pride and may even house sketches for a future art project or the next Great American Novel!
Katy DeMent
Katy DeMent is "The Paper Lady," so named by Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.
Ms. DeMent has been making her living as a full-time papermaker and teacher for over 20 years. Her work is found in galleries and museums worldwide and has been featured on HGTV's "Crafters Coast to Coast".
DeMent was an Art major at Georgia State University but is self-taught in papermaking, welding, sewing and other crafts. With a background in art history and textiles, Katy has been studying papermaking in depth for more than 10 years.
She is well-known for her mixed media creations, which are exhibited throughout Atlanta at Eclectic Electric, Raiford Gallery, Back to Square One and Urban Gardener.
