FIG Newton Program  |  Ron Anglin: Quite a Catch

“How did you do that?” is the question Ron hears most at every performance. The title is a mnemonic device to help students remember Newton’s three Laws of Motion, but the real learning comes as students assist Ron in spinning plates, manipulating boxes and balancing on the rola-bola while he tries to find a “lovely” new assistant. Students will experience friction, momentum, centripetal force and gyroscopic procession by juggling 5 balls, tossing a Chinese yo-yo in the right direction and calculating how much they would weigh on the moon. With administrative permission, Ron will add a very safe and controlled torch-juggling segment to illustrate heat, energy, temperature, conduction and radiation—guaranteed to keep faculty and students on the edge of their seats.

Ron Anglin: Quite a Catch

Ron Anglin, who lives in rural Molena, GA, once used juggling to help teach his high school classes and to improve his soccer and wrestling teams. He now uses a wide variety of props and skills to teach science, character education, and the importance of reading to all grades. He currently works for the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Program at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and for Cirque du Monde, the outreach program of Cirque du Soleil.

Ron has performed over 4200 times since 1999. He also works for Dakota Assemblies and National School Assemblies (24 states so far!) and will do a Midwest tour for them in 2011. His mission is to reach as many kids as possible and challenge them to try new things and develop a balanced brain!
