Cuban-born Tersi salutes her adopted homeland with something old (stories and legends told by native Georgians based on real events such as “The Queen of Dogwood Town” and “The Daughters of the Sun”); something new (stories based on recent events such as “Coca-Cola” and “Rich’s Department Store”); something borrowed (folktales brought to Georgia from other countries); and something blue (ghost stories and other “blue” legends such as “The Lantern Man of Ray City”). Georgia history, oral history and personal history merge in this engaging and heartfelt program.
Tersi Bendiburg
Tersi has a deep love for and an understanding of her Cuban heritage.
Living in Georgia since the age of ten, and later becoming a Naturalized American Citizen, she sees her adopted country with fresh eyes.
She gathers her stories both from her native Cuba and through research and travels to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, giving her an understanding of different cultures.
Tersi believes that when children get lost in the telling of a story, it is truly a moving thing.
