Photo Murals  |  Larry Erb

Classmates work together to express a theme or idea through a large format camera-less mural. The workshop begins with sensitivity awareness exercises to stimulate creativity and establish an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork. The students will gain inspiration from works by Man Ray, Moholy-Nagy and others, brainstorm ideas, then assemble cut-outs and found objects into a design to expose onto light-sensitive paper. The magical moment occurs when the exposed paper is processed and the mural image appears. Students discuss ways to alter or enhance the final artwork with collage, color, motifs or patterns.
