Sid the Serpent  |  Capitol City Opera Company

Sid is a dancing serpent with a problem: he only wants to sing. As he travels the world from America to Italy to England and home again, he learns a lot about singing and even more about himself. Students will enjoy the American Idol-style climax of this contemporary opera which teaches that it’s better to be a first-rate version of yourself than a second-rate version of anyone else. Musical terms, famous opera passages, four-part harmony and 8 students in non-speaking roles make this a lively learning experience.

Capitol City Opera Company

Capitol City Opera Company is an established resident repertory opera troupe with over 20 years experience, whose artists live in the Metro Atlanta area.

Its mission is to make opera accessible, affordable, and entertaining while it educates all segments of the population.  Capitol City Opera Company joyfully brings opera to students in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast. They perform fully staged and costumed operas specifically for kids.

All of the performing artists have received advanced musical training, and many of them are educators as well as performers.  The school touring group is dedicated to introducing opera as an art form to school age audiences throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
